Why Choose This Distance Sensor
This model is SDS1A015-01. It is a product. The product uses reflected infrared light to measure how far an object is. The output is an analog voltage. The closer the object, the higher the voltage. It is used for non contact distance measurement. A smart toilet customer used our sensor. They needed to detect whether a person is sitting on the toilet. The distance range is within 15cm. Our sensor worked perfectly. Output voltage changes from 0.65V to 1.05V at 7cm. Their ADC sampled it very stably. Another automatic faucet customer also chose it. They tested with white reflective paper (90% reflectivity). Distance range was 1.5 to 15cm. The faucet turned on and off accurately. The product gives you reliable proximity sensing.

How It Works and Key Specs
Inside the sensor there is an infrared LED and a photodetector. The LED emits infrared light. The light hits an object and reflects back. The receiver measures the light intensity. The closer the object, the stronger the reflected light. Output voltage Vout goes up. At 7cm distance, Vout is 0.65 to 1.05V. When the object moves from 15cm to 1.5cm, the voltage changes by 2.25 to 2.85V. That is a large change. Easy to sample with an ADC. Supply voltage is 4.5 to 5.5V. We recommend 5V. Maximum supply is 7V. Average current consumption is 18 to 27mA. At 5V, power is less than 0.15W. Very low. Good for battery powered devices. Detection range is 1.5 to 15cm. This is good for close range detection. The reference object is white matte paper with 90% reflectivity. If you detect black or shiny objects, the range will be shorter. You need to calibrate for your object. Operating temperature is -10 to +60°C. Do not let it freeze or get condensation. The product is easy to use.
